Dichondra argentea

Green Dichondra is a common lawn substitute in zones 9 and 10. It trails and is heat tolerant. Silver Dichondra is similar in growth but makes an incredible hanging basket. The silvery leaves set off dark greens and work well trailing over a wall or with other container plants.

This basket of Silver Dichondra is hanging at the Missouri Botanical Garden. It is taken inside over winter. It does remarkably well in a sunny, heated greenhouse. One of the most spectacular Botanical  Gardens in the United States, it is well worth a visit.
