Achillea millefolium Cerise Queen Yarrow

Cerise Queen Flower Head

These photos were taken on a raging hot summer's day. Still absolutely beautiful, this pink yarrow looked a bit better when the temperatures were only in the 90's. It does get morning shade which helps preserve the color. Standing at two feet tall and gracefully spreading across two feet of garden, this yarrow, with its bright green ferny foliage, has been a cooling delight. Butterflies and beneficial insects like it too. Cerise Queen Yarrow is one of the darker pink yarrows. This deep rich pink color is best for hot summer areas where lighter pastels fade to cream. You can see in the picture, above on the right, all the little leaves segments on the leaves; thus, the name millefolium or thousand leaves.

Cerise Queen Yarrow would make a great addition to our Wildlife Herb Garden Six Pack.
