Salvia discolor Andean Silver Leaf Sage

Salvia Discolor in a Pot

Top and Bottom leaf comparison This young Salvia discolor, taken from the greenhouse in spring, will grow rapidly and bloom this year from early summer until frost.

The velvety gray undersides of Andean Silver Leaf Sage leaves provide striking contrast to the dark green upper leaves.

Each one of these stems will put forth a single flower stem that will have multiple tiers of almost black flowers. The powdery gray of the stems and leaves blends well with both silver and gray foliaged plants.

In the garden pictured on the the left, the Andean Silver Leaf Sage in the foreground is surrounded by new plantings of shrubby Munstead Lavender, yellow miniature roses and breezy Pink Gaura.
