Corry's Snail and Slug Copper Barrier Tape

Snails and slugs can be devastating to your garden. Night time creepy crawlers, they can be hard to detect. Fortunately, there is a simple solution that does not involve dangerous chemicals. It turns out that these gastropods get a real charge out of copper. An electrical charge that is, a deathly electrical charge. And, somehow they know this instinctively and will not cross the copper. How amazing is that? You can use this sticky copper tape and wrap it around almost anything, pots or raised beds, trees and patio furniture, even dog bowls. As the copper is exposed to air it will get a rather nice patina, but this will not affect the effect it has on the snails and slugs.

You think flies and insects are bad today, imagine what it must have been like one hundred years ago. With no real sewers, manure in the streets and ice for refrigeration, folks would do whatever they could to escape the day to day pestilence of flies. In the 1880's, fly paper was almost a necessity of life. But, it didn't last long and was difficult to use. So it was that a druggist and his four sons came up with a better solution to catching flies. They created a sticky substance that didn't dry out and would last until the card didn't have a space for a fly to get stuck on! Now, the Tanglefoot Company makes more than just fly strips. Their products are important in the battle against many of our common flying, and crawling garden pests. These traps use no chemicals and are extremely effective.

Tangle-Trap Whitefly and Aphid Trap Kit

These kits help to rid plants of aphids, whiteflies, leafminer flies, and fungus gnats in large areas such as flower and vegetable gardens or greenhouses. The kit comes with two large (12" x17") trapping surfaces, stakes, and an 8 oz. brush cap container of Tangle-Trap Insect Trap Coating. For your convenience, each trapping surface has already been pre-coated, so there's little assembly or preparation required. You simply peel off the protective cover sheet, place sticky traps in the holder on the stake, and stick them in the soil near your plants.

Mosquito Dunks

Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis, also known as Bti, is a biological control agent for larval mosquitoes. It is a bacterial disease that creates toxins that are effective in killing a few species of Diptera, including mosquitoes and midges, while having almost no other effects on other species. Mosquito Dunks are impregnated with this agent which is released slowly over a 30 day period. As the dunks degrade, the Bacillus falls to the bottom of the water source and is eaten by mosquito larvae which then die. Not for use in drinking water or for human consumption. One dunk covers approximately 100 square feet of water surface for 30 days. Dunks can be broken up for use in smaller spaces. Unused or dried out Dunks keep indefinitely. Try the Water Lily cover-up package for those highly visible areas.
