Organic Fertilizers

Organic fertilizers have a different effect on the soil than chemical fertilizers do. They have a wide range of nutrients and micro nutrients that are needed to nurture the life of the soil. Indeed, soil that has been repeatedly treated with chemical fertilizers is often referred to as "dead soil". Organic fertilizers go beyond natural ingredients. They are certified free of pesticide and herbicide residue. Many seemingly organic amendments and fertilizers come from fields sprayed with toxic chemicals. The most recognizable of these may be Cottonseed Meal. This nice natural product is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in agriculture and the residue that is left behind in the meal can be significant. Our fertilizers have met the highest criteria for organic standards and their products are either listed with the Organic Materials Review Institute or National Organic Program.

The soil is your most important asset in the garden. Even the healthiest plants cannot survive if the soil is unbalanced. If you are wondering what the fertility of your soil is, you might want to invest in a soil test. We offer a reasonably priced kit that allows you to receive professional results and recommendations.

Jobe's Fertilizer Spikes All Purpose and Vegetable Jobe's Organic Fertilizer Spikes

It is great to see a product like Jobe's Fertilizer Spikes recognize the need for moving away from the old chemical way of fertilizing. Now when you push your little spike into the earth, not only will you nourish your plant, but you will support the health of the soil with microbes and nutrients. Repeated use of chemical fertilizers eventually causes "dead" soil and then no amount of chemical will nourish the plant.
Jobe's Fertilizer Spikes provide natural, slow-release organic nutrients to ensure happy well-fed plants.

Made in the USA, these high quality liquid fertilizers are made from fresh fish carefully processed at low temperatures (under 90°F) to maintain the integrity of naturally occurring amino acids, vitamins, hormones and enzymes. The raw material is then stored in digestion tanks to liquify the product. This method produces a product called a "hydrolysate." Drammatic® fish hydrolysates contain the natural oils and proteins of fish, which break down slowly to become available over a longer period of time. This process also eliminates much of the fishy smell sometimes associated with this type of fertilizer.

In contrast, the majority of fish fertilizers on the market today are known as "emulsions." First the fish is cooked and the oil removed for paints and cosmetics. Then the protein is removed and dried to make fish meal for livestock feeds. The remaining wastewater is condensed into a brown, thick liquid called an "emulsion."

In addition to the fish hydrolysates, Drammatic Liquid Fertilizers may also contain kelp, fulvic acid and high quality Chilean nitrate providing a well balanced quality fertilizer for gardens or lawn. Choose the 4-4-1 for flower or vegetable gardens and the 5-1-2 for a lush lawn. One 32 ounce bottle covers 3000 square feet.

Ideal for Flowers, Vegetable Gardens & Indoor Planting. Chickity Doo Doo is derived from 100% Layer Hen Manure  and Contains 9% Calcium. It is 100% Weed Free with no fillers or additives.

DIRECTIONS FOR FLOWERS & VEGETABLE GARDENS
For perennials, apply fertilizer early in the spring and again after plants have bloomed to give plants strength for the following season. Apply 1-2 lbs. per 100 sq. feet to base of plants and rake lightly into soil. For annuals, apply fertilizer at the time of planting at the rate of 2 lbs. per 100 sq. feet of seed bed and work into the soil. When flower buds have formed, reapply at 1-2 lbs. per 100 sq. feet and rake lightly into soil. For other small applications, two cups of Chickity Doo Doo™ equals 1 lb.

DIRECTIONS FOR SHRUBS
For single shrub planting, the amount to use will depend upon the size of the shrub. We recommend mixing one cup of fertilizer into the soil used to fill around the root ball. For new shrub beds, apply fertilizer into the soil at the rate of 2 lbs. per 100 sq. feet and work thoroughly into the soil before planting. For established shrub beds, apply fertilizer around the base of the plant and scratch lightly into the soil using one cup for each plant. This should be done twice a year (early spring and early summer).

Dr. Iron

Iron deficiency can cause grass and leaves to yellow and die. Dr. Iron is a 100 percent organic product that helps to correct iron deficiency in the lawn or garden. It helps to combat soil alkalinity which, if too high, can cause nutrient tie up. The sulfur in Dr. Iron also helps to combat fungal diseases. Comprised of 22 percent iron and 55 percent iron, this product comes in a resealable bag and is non-staining. When used as directed, it will not burn or cause any environmental hazards.

Each application should be followed by a thorough watering to help move the iron into the soil.
For lawns: 3 1/2 pounds per 1000 square feet.
For potted plants: 2 teaspoons for 4 to 8 inch pots and 4 teaspoons for 8 to 12 inch pots.
For trees and shrubs: 1/2 to 1 cup scattered around the plant.
